Ard Mara is in a designated National Scenic Area, on the quiet road to the Rua Reidh Lighthouse. Due to it's elevated position the cottage offers spectacular views accross the Minch to the Isle of Skye, Harris and Lewis.

The Wester Ross area

The Inner Minch is a haven for wildlife and sealife. Bottlenose dolphins, seals, otters and whales are regular visitors. There are a variety of boat trips and sight-seeing trips available in the Gairloch, Kinlochewe and the Loch Maree area to take in all the sights. Bird watching, falconry courses, a golf course and pony trekking, bike & car hire, deer stalking, a deer museum, guided hill walks and guided climbing, also sea kayaking trips and Inverewe Gardens to name but a few of the things to do in Wester Ross and Ross and Cromarty.

The coastline around Melvaig and to the Rua Reidh Lighthouse (approx.4 miles) is rugged, a haven for nesting birds, sea eagles, seals whales and otters.
